Entrance to Exit 1 Cave. If you were hitch-hiking on an interstate entrance ramp, you could see this cave. Frank Gieske heading out.....Exit 1 Cave The beautiful 'ramp' approach to Big Spring Cave. We were careful not to walk on them.

Maria Gieske crawled in this hole and decided to come back out.....Hey? Is she coming or going? Saltpeter workings. This bridge was built over a 100 years ago, and still supports cavers. This windlass was used to haul water up over 60 feet, to help produce saltpeter.
